Consumer Financing in Egypt: Where Egyptians Spend $1.4 Billion

During the first nine months of 2025, Egyptians spent $1.4 billion through consumer financing — a system that allows people to buy goods and pay in installments.
The data shows a clear shift toward essential products and big-ticket items, reflecting changing priorities amid economic pressures.

Electronics and electrical appliances top the list with $248 million, as households continue to upgrade or replace essential devices.
Right behind them, cars and vehicles accounted for $247 million, showing that mobility remains a major spending priority despite rising costs.

Home-related spending also plays a strong role:

  • $230 million on household appliances
  • $200 million on general consumer goods
  • $45 million on furniture and home equipment
  • $34 million on home finishing materials

Meanwhile, mobile phones accounted for $95 million, and clothing, shoes, and accessories reached $49 million, reflecting ongoing demand for personal necessities.

The category of “other products”, worth $260 million, highlights how broad and diversified consumer financing has become — touching almost every aspect of daily life.

Overall, the numbers show that Egyptians increasingly rely on installment plans to manage rising living costs and maintain access to essential goods, home needs, and transportation.
